REWIND

WARNING (parents and family) this post is a little vulgar but completely necessary to paint our picture of this process-the funny, awkward, gross, bad news and good news-it will all be here...eventually...

Have you ever been hanging out with a group of friends and all of a sudden everyone goes hysterical over something…and sadly somehow you missed it?  Sometimes you just need a “rewind button”!  My husband has the most amazing sense of humor and literally keeps me laughing throughout the day—even when—and especially when he’s not around (I say that with the most sincere love and admiration for him).  He gave me and my girlfriends a good laugh last week and after heavy consideration for his humility and a little moral deliberation I decided: we need to “rewind” and share! From the beginning it was clear that our inhibitions and reservations were out the door—so here ya go!

Last week JCH has an appointment with the urologist to get an exam.  This was HIS first of these fun appointments so he was anxious and slightly grumpy.  I’m strapped for time-off at work, so I stayed behind as this was one of the appointments I can afford to miss.  When he leaves the appointment he calls me.  “How did your appointment go?” I say very reluctantly.   “Well, you’re talking to a man with big balls” he says with confidence.  It’s important to note here, that there is nothing abnormal about the size of my husband’s balls.  The doctor had him at “big balls” (Jerry Maguire reference).  While JCH is smiling inside about his “big balls” the doctor was merely telling him that the size of his balls indicated that there was a good chance that there was viable sperm in there ("in there" aka "his balls").

Either way-THIS IS GOOD NEWS-our second round of good news!  The first round of good news we received after I spent 5 hours with a genetics specialist and another 8 weeks to find out if I was a carrier of Cystic Fibrosis.  If I was a carrier we could still “do this”, it was just going to add a much more complicated and expensive step into the mix. Well, I’m not a carrier of CF and JCH has BIG BALLS!! Happy days!

I couldn't help myself with this picture...thanks Tam ;)

  3. Came over from Tamra's blog! We had lots of challenges ourselves, so it's nice that you are being so open with yours. It was difficult to feel like we were all alone, that something was wrong with us, etc. But I'm happy to report we have a 2-1/2 year old little girl at the end of it all! And I have quite a few friends that have had to do IUIs and IVFs, successfully. It's such a strange experience but at the end of the day, it's all totally worth it once you're holding that little precious thing in your arms, I promise! Keep it up!

  4. Thanks Erika! Glad Tamra connected us! :) I think that thought alone is what keeps a smile on my face and keeps me positive this whole time! YOu are right, definitely a strange experience! I have also learned so much about myself, my husband and human anatomy in general!
